Computer Recognition Effect On Child Development

Abstract, This article presents the research is limited to the effects of computer use at home on the development aspects of physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and motor. In general, the development of children who are introduced to computer technology is relatively better than certain aspects, than children who had not been introduced to computer technology. This research is still an initial study that required a more systematic research and complex in this region, so as to help parents and policy makers to explore and maximize positive effects and minimize adverse effects from the use of computer technology on children.

Preliminary
In the digital era, more and many children have access to computers at home or at school for many things, starting from computer games, or helping with homework, and even chat and email or browsing on the Internet. Subrahmanyam said that in the United States in 1999 is estimated 67% of existing U.S. homes have a computer game consoles such as Sega or Nintendo, then 60% have PCs, and 37 percent of them have been connected to the Internet.

Even Subrahmanyam also claimed in one of his research, there are questions posed to children aged 8 to 18 years who question what the item will be taken if they are in the middle of the desert, then they will answer a computer with Internet access, including television as expressed by Rideout.

Research Implementation
The study was conducted by distributing questionnaires about the introduction of computers to children who are given to parents of children who are left at the Park Children The Salman Al Farisi.

From the questionnaires that have been distributed, data showed that all children in the Toddler Park "Salman Al Farisi" had introduced a computer by his parents, both in the form of computer games (computer games), interactive CDs, and Multimedia. To obtain data on child development, data from questionnaires completed by parents of child development test. Thus expected to be known how far the child's development and its relationship with the introduction of computer.

The test used to determine the child's development is Card Child Development (KPA). KPA is a form of early detection (screening) on ??child development. KPA prepared by:
- Bayley Scales of Infant Development
- Tests Stanford - Binet
- Denver Development Screening Test

From the above studies, this research concluded, that technology, especially computers affect the psychological development of children.

However, this research is still a pilot study, which should be continued with further research. Such technology links with health issues, vision, social development, and so forth. Need more evidence needed to support the claim that computers can help improve the performance of the child's development. Future research needs to be done to determine whether a home computer can have a long and significant effect on cognitive abilities and academic progress.
