ACTIVITY
Write the word diary on a sheet of chart paper. Read it to children and invite them to share what they know about diaries. Inform them that they will work together to keep a computer diary to document the highlights of their week. Explain that they will be creating a record of a few important things that they feel, as a group, are important to record.
Schedule time before the end of each day to bring children together to share the highlights of their day. Include your highlights, as well. Record everyone's responses on chart paper. Read over the list and invite children to choose one or two events that they feel, as a class, are important to document. Help facilitate discussions so that children will learn to share their ideas and express their opinions.
